The 3 Strategies That Will Save Your YouTube Channel…

YouTube Nerds! If your audience isn’t making it past the 15-sec mark, then you can kiss your channel goodbye! ☠️

Here are 3 strategies you can use on your next YouTube video that will…

Increase retention, and get you in the YouTube algorithm (instead of out)…

For the past 15 years, I’ve edited over 2,000 videos, many of them on YouTube.

✨ Strategy #1: Embracing the Beginner’s Mind

Whatever you think you know about your YouTube channel and what your audience wants — throw that out the window. It took me an entire year with SamCart’s YouTube channel to realize that “being like other channels” was hurting audience engagement.

Start from scratch mentally. Go back to The Beginning.

✨ Strategy #2: Know Your Audience’s Mindset

When they are watching your video, what mode is their brain in?

How can you create engaging videos if you don’t know what your audience needs at that moment?

A few questions that helped me:

Are they in “business school” mode? Or…

Are they in “fun, escapism” mode?

✨ Strategy #3: Experiment, Experiment, Experiment

A quick story:

As a pro editor, the hardest part of my journey was when I experimented with doing ZERO edits to a video.

“But it’s my job to make videos POP! And now you tell me to do less than what I’m capable of?”

Then, I watched @robertoblake’s most popular videos.

He taught me that you don’t need WILD ’n’ CRAZY edits to keep your audience engaged.

So I experimented: What if I did ZERO editing to this video?

It turned out to be one of our most popular videos to date!
