On your way to your first 100 videos, start to adopt this legendary YouTube habit — A/B testing.

A/B Testing everything from your titles to your thumbnails to even your video ideas can unlock that NEXT level of your YouTube career.

Unfortunately, most newbie Youtubers see publishing their video as the end of the workflow — not beginning.

🧪 Great Marketers Test Everything

A/B Testing is how the pros get their videos from good to great.

But many newbies have the mindset that…

❌ Optimizing just one video is tedious

❌ You would rather be making your next video

❌ You feel like your audience is too small to see the difference

A/B Testing is controlling YOUR side of the algorithm. YouTube is constantly testing your video on new audiences, so you always have a chance to attract a new viewer.

You don’t need a marketing degree to start A/B testing your videos.

Here’s are three, easy steps:

🖼️ Step 1: Create 2–3 Thumbnails Per Video

Speaking with Pat Flynn, he and his team produce over 10+ thumbnails PER VIDEO!

I’m going to prescribe that you start with 2–3 thumbnails per video.

And the differences between thumbnails don’t have to be that stark. Sometimes simply changing the color of the background or fonts can be enough to attract new eyeballs.

đź“ť Step 2: List out 5 Titles

First do a YouTube search for your video (even if you haven’t posted it.)

Observe the top videos titles. What keywords are they using and how are they structuring the title?

Are they using ALL CAPS? Are they using parenthesese to add some quick info?

Copy thier format and create 5 alternative versions.

🧨 Step 3: Add the TubeBuddy Plugin

TubeBuddy’s paid plan offers automatic A/B testing on your videos.

Simply drop in two thumbnails, and click Start Test. TubeBuddy will automatically hot-swap your thumbnails and see which on gets over that magical 5% CTR.
